Who we are
BrushQuote is run by S.H Decor, a painting and decorating business based in Bristol. S.H Decor is the controller of the personal data you send through BrushQuote. Contact: shdecor171@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
If you use the Request a quote form, we collect:
- your name
- your phone number or email address
- your postcode
- the best time to contact you
- your message, if you write one
- a summary of the estimate you built (rooms, sizes, work chosen and the estimated price)
- a record that you ticked the box agreeing to be contacted
We use these details only to reply to your quote request, arrange a visit and give you a quote. We do not sell your details or use them for marketing.
You can use the price calculator without giving us any details. Nothing you type into it is sent to us unless you submit the quote form.
Our lawful basis
We process your details because you asked us for a quote. That means taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). We also rely on our legitimate interest in keeping basic records of the enquiries we receive (Article 6(1)(f)).
Who processes your data
The website and the quote form are hosted by Netlify, Inc., which is based in the United States. Netlify stores form submissions and sends us an email notification when you submit one. Because your data may be transferred to the US, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses, as set out in Netlify's data processing terms.
We receive the notification emails in a Gmail account, provided by Google.
The page also loads its fonts from Google Fonts. To deliver them, your browser sends your IP address to Google.
Stored on your device
BrushQuote uses your browser's local storage to remember your ceiling paint setting and any quotes you choose to Save on this device. It also keeps an offline copy of the app so you can use it without a signal. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics tracking.
If you use Copy share link, the estimate is stored inside the link itself. Whoever you send the link to can see it.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests for 12 months, then delete them. If you become a customer, we keep your details for as long as we need them to do the work and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- see the personal data we hold about you
- have it corrected
- have it deleted
- restrict how we use it
- object to how we use it
- receive a copy of it to take elsewhere (data portability)

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by phoning 0303 123 1113.
